The following clip simply withdraws; aside that it doesn’t do anything bad or anything good. The observer can see only what is revealed to him. On his own the observer cannot “imagine” how things are; he always remains dependent on what he gets to see.

To be able to experience aesthetic enjoyment of any kind, the spectator has to be aesthetically educated. And this education necessarily reflects social and cultural milieus into which this spectator was born.

Excerpt from Casablanca

Unfortunately, along with these unhappy refugees the scum of Europe has gravitated to Casablanca. Some of them have been waiting years for a visa. Monsieur, watch yourself. Be on guard. This place is full of vultures, vultures everywhere, everywhere.

Possibility and Impossibility

1. Restribution of the sensible that reconfigures the spectator’s filed of vision by showing certain things and giving access to certain voices that were earlier concealed and obscured. Needing to construct a new place, a new distribution of words and gestures, times and spaces.

2. Acceptance of the impossibility of positive aesthetic experience in the middle of society based on oppression and exploitation, due to the total commercialization and commodification of art, that undermines any possible utopian perspective from the beginning.
